The Italian team are raising funds for rebuilding a sports facility for local schools in a town in Abruzzo (Southern Italy) which, more than one year on, is still suffering the effects of one of Europe’s biggest earthquakes. With attention shifting to other natural disasters such as that in Haiti, the Abruzzo children need a boost and our SATW Abruzzo project aims to provide something that will help the community for years to come. Personnaly, I could not resist the opportunity of joining such an exciting trip, especially with the knowledge that the climb would give something to a community that most children, including my own, take for granted.
In terms of training I am trying to get to the gym every other day although this doesn’t always happen! The heat and humidity of Milan means that training has been a bit of a struggle in recent weeks but I am planning a few walking weekends in the Alps over the next few weeks which should help the preparation.
